Dr. Alex Brylske is the founder and president of Ocean Education International, a consulting firm specializing in sustainable tourism. His background includes 40 years experience designing and teaching professional development programs for marine tourism operators. He has worked extensively throughout the Greater Caribbean, Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia and Micronesia. Alex’s unique background combines his training as a marine conservation
biologist with careers in both education and tourism. He is the author more than 100 articles, several books and has been a frequent speaker at marine conservation and tourism conferences around the world. During his long tenure as Professor of Marine Science at the College of the Florida Keys he developed innovative programs in tropical marine science and created the first course on sustainable tourism in the Florida State College System. He is the
recipient of NOAA’s prestigious Walter B. Jones Memorial Excellence Award for Coastal and Ocean Resource Management for his work exploring how sustainable marine tourism can support effective marine resource management. His interests include environmental interpretation, recreation ecology and marine ecotourism.
