Vanessa is an international brand and digital marketer who leverages the art of storytelling to promote businesses and philanthropic activities globally. In addition to her content platform, vavoup.com that celebrates Haitian culture, Vanessa has been connected to the island nation since receiving news of the earthquake that devastated Haiti in 2010. While on the ground, Vanessa led communications efforts for Sean Penn’s organization, JP/HRO. She was tasked with providing fundraising assets to support over a quarter million displaced families.
During this time, Vanessa was recruited by Caribbean telecom giant, Digicel, to spearhead their brand strategy and content development in market and across the region. In addition, to developing their content strategy and mentoring talent, Vanessa grew the brand’s Facebook community by over 500%.
Understanding the power of visuals and song, Vanessa along with friends decided to create their own adaptation of Pharell Williams’ song “Happy” The goal of the song was to celebrate Haiti’s rich culture and the most prized possession-it’s unwavering people. Today although she returned stateside, Vanessa maintains her connection of love for Haiti through partnership with SOW A SEED to provide sustainable change to low-income Haitian families as well as continuing to show the world the best Haiti has to offer through her eyes on vavoup.com and IG as @vavouplive.
