Born and raised in San Jose, CA, Clorama Dorvilias started her career in the public sector and transitioned into a UX technologist to advance traditional efforts for social impact. She has a B.S. degree in Political Science from Santa Clara University and attained her Master’s in Interaction Design at the University of Arts London in 2015 where she researched designed solutions using Virtual Reality applications to mitigate social biases in the workforce. Since then, she worked full-time as a UX Practitioner across different industries while also building anti-bias VR apps for institutions expanding across in healthcare, education, law enforcement, and the workplace. She recently launched a start-up, Debias VR, after winning funding and partnership with Facebook/Oculus for her pilot VR project, “Teacher’s Lens”. Teacher’s Lens uses evidence-based game simulations for teachers to identify and reduce bias in the classrooms that negatively impact students of color success in education.
